Our religion (faith), is an extension of the world we know. It is based on the reality of the world we experience, this can limit our view to seeing something greater.
How could guilt and fear be a way of teaching love and forgiveness and joy? It’s impossible.
Life is bigger than any religion.
Once you say God is in heaven, meaning a location, Our Creator becomes a distant entity. The Divine Presence is not in a place but exists in a state of being that is everywhere and in everything.
True faith is not merely accepting what you have been taught but experiencing enough of life to know what is true.
Faith is not looking for what you can get out of something but setting aside your expectations and being a part of something greater.
I learned early in my life that I would rather be a part of something, a faith, with all its challenges, than to live my life separately in what appears to be an easier way. Over time, I have learned to face my struggles with gratitude and without expectation of what I will receive.
Having compassion is knowing that each of us is given great challenges in this life. It is acknowledging that others face different challenges from ours, but everyone is worthy of our compassion. It is looking past their actions to see the person hidden inside.
